In these 3 classes, you will:

  • glimpse into the history of Ayurveda
  • learn about the 3 doshas and discover your own unique physical, mental, and emotional constitution
  • learn how to eat according to your dosha, keeping you’re “internal fire” strong with foods designed for your type
  • explore the stages of disease and how to level out dosha imbalances to prevent illness
  • discover how to adjust eating and habits with seasonal changes

On the last night, enjoy a meal according to your dosha type with tea and dessert and take-home spice favors.

wonderfully put together, very informative, and thought provoking…

I personally always enjoy history [of Ayurveda] but designation and eating for my dosha have been most interesting to me. Slowly [have been] introducing new spices and foods, trying to use the neti pot, and began using sesame oil on my skin. Every Tuesday, we learned more and laughed with others as we shared experiences.  [The last session of an Ayurvedic meal and movie] was very yummy and filling. Want to watch the whole movie now!

I personally always enjoy history [of Ayurveda] but designation and eating for my dosha have been most interesting to me. Slowly [have been] introducing new spices and foods, trying to use the neti pot, and began using sesame oil on my skin. material was wonderful…

The material was wonderful (handouts, herbal samples and the kitcheri and drink during the last class ), the setting was so inviting, the class was taught well.

fantastic intro to the inner components of oneself…

[In the] small group, it was easy to feel comfortable. After a slide into depression, a bad job, and a car accident, I spent a lot of time in therapy learning to get out of my head. Now it's time to get back in tune with my thoughts...this course was a great intro!

everyone needs that perfect balance for themselves…

I felt [the class] was very informative --I loved that we not only learned about an aspect of Yoga that many of us may have not been aware of, but there was open discussion regarding the material. I also think constantly about where I am within each of my chakras and its relation to my gunas. I know how to find the areas within myself that need a little more love if I am stressed or anxious. From what I have learned in this class, I can try to pinpoint why people are the way they are and have more compassion and patience when dealing with them.

The ancient technology of Yoga has much to offer us even today. This series comes with a book so you bring your learning home and practice. Join us for all 5 sessions and learn the subtle practices of Pranayama, Mantra, and Dhyana that will balance the energy throughout the body systems. Pranayama means controlled breathing, Mantra means a repetition of words or phrase (many times chanting), and Dhyana means meditation. You will take away the profound ability to bring calmness and relaxation to the body, stop the monkey chatter of the mind, and bring true grounding in your daily life.

Each session will incorporate a new:

  • Sun/moon salutation sequence
  • Pranayama technique
  • Mantra chant
  • Meditation to focus and calm the mind
  • Relaxation pose/technique
Malas will be used in class. You can borrow a studio wrist mala or buy your own from our display case . There are some lovely sandalwood (slightly aromatic when you use it) and lotus seed malas. If you own a mala, you can bring it to the sessions.
As we will be doing some poses, dress comfortably as you would for a regular Yoga class.

Breathing [pranayama] was very relaxing and using it in the future is my plan, especially to wake up and during stress. I intend to try the various mantras as I feel they are needed.
